  • Arrive in Reykjavik and take a guided tour of the city.  Later in the day, go on to the Volcano House Museum.  Begin to study the causes and effects of volcanology in Iceland. View the award winning documentary film of the recent eruption of Eyjafjallajokull volcano.

Day 2:

  • Begin by taking the Inside the Volcano tour. Go inside the “giant maw” of a dormant volcano for a one-of-a-kind geologic experience.  In the afternoon take a guided walking tour of the lava fields near Reykjavik. See boiling mud eyes, steaming fumaroles, lava caves where outlaws hid and where trolls and elves live.

Day 3:

  • Start the day by visiting the Hellisheidi Geothermal Power Plant and take a guided tour of the world’s largest geothermal power station. Learn how the clever Icelanders managed to harness enough geothermal energy to power the city of Reykjavik. In the afternoon visit the Perlan Museum in Reykjavik.

Day 4:

  • Spend the day on the guided Golden Circle Tour. See the Thingvillar National Park, Alpingi Parliament, the Geysir Geothermal Area including Strokkur and Geysir, Hekla and Eyjajallajokull and Gullfoss.
