Trips to Costa Rica

A Starting Point Itinerary

Day 1:

  • Day flight to San Jose, Costa Rica

  • Transfer to hotel and welcome dinner

Day 2:

  • Immerse into local culture and language with a  hosted day at a nearby high school

  • In the evening, take a tour of the Plaza de la Cultura

Day 3:

  • Spend the day at the La Paz Waterfall Gardens to enjoy the five waterfalls, cloud forest and rain forest

  • Picnic lunch in the wildlife preserve among the 100+ species of animals

  • Dinner at a local restaurant

Day 4:

  • Travel to the Arenal Volcano National Park to enjoy the northern lowlands of Costa Rica

  • Take a sightseeing tour of the highlights of the area to learn about the rich diversity of the ecosystems, the lake, culture, customs & traditions. 

  • Dinner at a local restaurant in front of the volcano 

Day 5:

  • Travel back to San José and go on a guided tour of the University of Costa Rica, the National Museum, Yellow House, Plaza de la Cultura and the Gold Museum

  • Depart on the night flight back to the USA

Day 6:

  • Arrival home

And Now for Something Completely Different

Your tour could also include visiting the pre Columbian ruins dating back to 100BC. Explore the local ruins and study the petroglyphs found in the area thought to be aged 3000 years old.

Perhaps more immersion might be more up your street.  Imagine your students cooking local cuisine with a  Spanish speaking chef or taking a local weaving class.
